Royal Wedding Challenge! British ancestors of the groom? [closed]

Question

The mother of the man who has married a princess of the United Kingdom has as parents Burrows-3324 Robert David Burrows and his wife Heath-7131 Susan Arnot Heath.

I've started brief profiles for both of her parents, and taken them back a few generations. Would anybody like to join the hunt, expanding sketchy profiles and adding new ones?

Burrows-3324 Robert David Burrows and his wife Heath-7131 Susan Arnot Heath, grandparents of the groom, are not living and have valid sourced WikiTree profiles. There was never any question of profiles for their living daughter, the groom's mother, or for the living groom. My error was to mention their names here in G2G, which I deleted on being told it is forbidden.

Susan, I’m flagging this because living people are being discussed. I’m unsure if the rule about discussing living people has been implemented yet, but really want to bring this thread to the attention of rangers and leaders for their perusal seeing a comment about another living royal was removed earlier.

Naively, I thought that the wedding on 17 July 2020 of an Italian man I cannot name to an English woman I cannot name, daughter of an English man I cannot name, who is the son of an English woman I cannot name and her 99-year-old Greek husband who I cannot name, had been in most of the world's media and was therefore pretty well in the public domain. Thanks for the public rebuke, always more effective than a friendly word of advice, and for the award of my first red flags.

The profile for the bride's great-aunt, Windsor-24 Margaret Rose Windsor, mentions people called Queen Elizabeth II, David Albert Charles Armstrong-Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowden (though there's no such earldom), and Lady Sarah Frances Elizabeth Armstrong-Jones. All three, so far as I know, are alive?

Don't feel bad -- because WikiTree is a global site, we follow European Union privacy laws, and we don't name a living person (except for actual WikiTree members) even if they appear in the newspapers every day.  That does get tricky when we're including an obituary for a dead person, and of course what obituaries do is name all their living relatives.

This went into effect a year or so ago, so there are still legacy profiles that haven't been re-edited.

Stanley, I’m sorry you took offence. Perhaps in hindsight I should have messaged you instead of putting the flag. (I did remove it and hide my comment above.) The rangers/leaders recently removed a comment that the named bride’s uncle had had a mistress. I just wanted to bring this post to THEIR attention. For some reason, they have still allowed Susan’s link. If WikiTree does not want posts about living people in G2G, the leaders need to be consistent.

I said when they first passed that ruling, that it was silly that you could look up living notables on Wikipedia, and no longer on Wikitree. What they should have done, was made a 'Living Notables' category, where a group more intune with the rules, could allow their public profiles, for things like relationship finding, but which protected them from being doxxed.

I removed the flag from Susan's post. She was simply pointing out that the post referred to living people, who are not supposed to be discussed here.

Now that we have established that fact, let's agree not to discuss the people. And I will close the thread.
