William was born at Second Peninsula, near Lunenburg. He married Anna Maria Burns on Feb 6, 1851 at St. John's Anglican, Lunenburg.
He passed away in 1902.

"CAPTAIN WILLIAM YOUNG
Death of One of the Oldest Freemasons and Oddfellows in the Province
LUNENBURG, July 1/-Captain William Young, an aged and much respected citizen, died at his home, Hillside Farm, this morning, in the 72nd year of his age. He was a prominent conservative and filled the office of shipping master for more than twenty-five years. He was one of the oldest Freemasons and Oddfellows in the province, having been connected with those societies for upwards of fifty years. He leaves a widow, Wm. Young, in C.E. Kaulbach’s (M.P.) office, is a son, and Mrs. James Hyson, of Mahone, a daughter, of the deceased."
