Biography

George Miller is/was a significant British Columbian.

George Clark Miller, son of Isaac S. Miller and Margaret Janet Henderson,^[1] was born on January 9, 1882 in Seaforth, Ontario.^[2] In 1901, George (age 19) and his family were living in Burrard (now Vancouver), British Columbia.^[3]

George married Isabella Mitchell in Vancouver, British Columbia on September 21, 1910.^[1] At the time of their marriage, George's occupation was listed as "Tobacconist".

In 1911, George and Bella were living at 848 Helmcken St. in Vancouver, British Columbia; George was working as a foreman at a cigar factory.^[4]

George served as an alderman in Vancouver, and then served as mayor from 1937 to 1938, and then again as Acting Mayor in 1948.

In 1952, Miller was elected to the British Columbia Legislative Assembly representing Vancouver—Point Grey representing the Progressive Conservative Party of British Columbia but he was defeated the next year in the 1953 provincial election.

George died in Vancouver on March 17, 1968.^[2][5] He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery.^[6]
