Helen was born September 21, 1923 in Decatur, Mississippi; the daughter of I. P. Johnson and Nora Ann (Strebeck) Johnson. She came to Artesia in 1924 from Mississippi.
On July 15, 1944 she was married to Robert S. McCaw in Cottonwood, N.M. He preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1993.
She was owner/operator Mode O'Day Dress shop, and Arrow Realtor. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Women's Bible Study, Cottonwood Extension Club and a 4-H Leader.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, sons Richard Sterling McCaw and James Robert McCaw, great-grandson Sterling Bowen McCaw, brothers Lamar Johnson, George Johnson, Charles Johnson and Herman Johnson, sisters Oleta Cooper, Oneta Brown, Christine Butler and Lorene Lambert.
