Biography

Dwight Ashley Douglas was born to Lionel Douglass and Margaret Overland on 13 Nov 1945 in Flesherton, Ontario, Canada. Unfortunately, his mother died that day in childbirth when he was born. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, the Overlands (Caldwell Ashely Overland and Annie Ella Little), as his father Lionel did not have the ability to raise a newborn.

Dwight grew up in the Claremont area with the Overlands. When he was in high school, he met Pauline Marcoux.

In January 1964, Pauline gave birth to a son, Kelly John Douglas, but had to give him up for adoption. He was later adopted by a farming couple, and was raised as Gregory Patrick Clarke. Despite that hardship, Pauline and Dwight continued their romantic relationship, and were married in September 1965. They had a daughter and then a son together.

Eventually, things did not work out, and they separated.

Dwight found another partner eventually, Lynda Jean Benham. Together they had a daughter. Sadly, Lynda was killed in a car accident in 1994.

Dwight had many jobs throughout his life. He was a jack of all trades. He did maintenance, drove a zamboni, owned a store in Hamilton, operated a snow plow, and enjoyed motorhoming, and was a drummer. He enjoyed life to the fullest.

In his final years, Dwight's health began to fail. He passed away in January 2017. Dwight “Twick” Douglas formerly of Claremont, beloved father of Tracey Douglas of Sunderland, Marty Douglas of Utica, and Tara Lynn Douglas of Fort McMurray, Alberta. Predeceased by Linda Douglas. Will be greatly missed by his loving companion Lydia Stasuk and many friends.^[1]

Just one year after his passing, however, Greg, his firstborn, was able to connect with his biological brother and sister, and their half-sister, and they now enjoy a healthy adult sibling relationship. Dwight would have been happy that they were reunited, and likely enjoyed a beer or two celebrating that!
