Hi Jenny,

Thank you for your commitment to the England Project and its goals in 2023! Together we are making English WikiTree profiles the best they can be!

I'd like to share our end-of-year 2023 Newsletter. You can read it here: England Project Newsletters. We hope you enjoy reading about what we have achieved in 2023!

On behalf of all the England Project Leaders, we wish you a peaceful, productive and enjoyable 2024!

Best wishes,

Elizabeth, England Project Leader

Thank you for your work on the family of Fanny Broad Chambers. I was excited to see that Fanny's father was Thomas Broad of Great Torrington, Devon. One of my toughest brick walls is finding ancestors of William Broad, of Little Torrington, who is my 3rd GGF. Robert Broad, his son (my 2nd GGF), came to the United States in about 1832-1835. William had another son, named Thomas, but his age in Fanny's census household record makes him too young to be the son of my 3rd GGF. If you are able to do any more digging into the Broads of Little/Great Torrington, and can find info on Willam's parents or William's wife Sarah Griffiths' parents, I would be forever indebted to you.

No worries, Bill. Fanny is a member of my Great Aunt's husband's family, so I don’t really have a connection as such. If I do have time and find further information on the Broads, I will of course add it.

Kind regards, Jenny

Hi Jennifer

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand this Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi J and thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

We have some great projects at WikiTree. To find projects hover your mouse over the little menu bar at the very top right of your screen over the word "Find", lower your mouse down the dropdown list that appears and click on "projects". When you find a project that you'd like to learn more about click on its clickable heading and you will be taken to the projects page where you can read all about it. Perhaps you'd like to check out Magna Carta?

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Happy tree climbing
