John Clark was born in 1844 in Sherston, Wiltshire, England to Thomas Clark and Susan (Jobbins?) Clark.

John Clark, son of Thomas & Susan, was christened on 5 May 1844 in Sherston Magna With Sherston Parva, Wiltshire.^[1]

In 1861 John Clark (age 17, Agricultural Labourer) lived at Brook Hill in Sherston with his father Thomas (47, Farrier), mother Susana (45), and brother William (10).^[3]

John Clark married Susanna Matthews in 1863.
