Biography

Isabella was a Friend (Quaker)

"She was born in Dublin in the year 1757 and was the daughter of William and Mary Bull She was the offspring of a marriage contrary to the rules of our Society but having attended meetings pretty regularly she attracted the notice of some kind Friends upon whose suggestion she was admitted into membership about the fifteenth year." ^[1]

Isabella married Anthony Harris a master mariner when she was about twenty-one. They settled in Maryport, Cumberland.

Isabella and Anthony were Quakers. They had seven children, the youngest was born two months after Anthony's death;

Isabella's husband Anthony died at sea while she was pregnant with their daughter Hannah.

Isabella was "late principal mistress at Ackworth School" a Quaker school in Pontefract, West Yorkshire where she worked for twenty two years after the death of her husband.

She retired from the school due to her health, she spent her time with family in the Durham area until her death.

Isabella Harris died in 1832 in Stockton on Tees, Durham "six days from her first seizure". ^[9]
