Loretta was born in 1961. She is the daughter of Don Buckner and Anita Coons, sister of Kathleen aka Kathy, mother of Emily Anne Stinchfield, grandmother of Asher, Judah and Hadleigh.
Each time I create a new profile with only the most basic facts, I grieve for the "dash", and wonder about that life lived in that, seemingly short and insignificant punctuation. This compiling of evidence may not be much, may not do more than sketch out the vaguest boundaries of a life, but at least it's something. Something which allows us to see that net - the bigger one.

My interest in genealogy began with my maternal grandmother Sarah ("Sally"), who was a member of DAR, through her own father's research. Grandmothers have great stories, and Ollie Mae on my dad's side was no different--she seemed not only to know everyone in a 100 mile radius of the family farm, but apparently was also related to most of them.
The world becomes a much smaller place when we begin to follow lines of descent, and find them to be truly interconnected, in ways unimagined. Sister Kathy refers to the family tree now as a 'web' - like the roots of old growth trees the world over, the web is a living organism, capable of carrying messages across generations.
I call it "therapy".
I've also begun to think of it more as a net, in the words of Pablo Neruda:
Why would you need research notes on your own profile? (you might ask...) and the answer would be: to remember what I'm looking for at the moment. Those questions posted in G2G are a great place to begin the inquiry, and a recent one regarding Gateway ancestors has led me to this one: Are the Stewarts in fact Gateway ancestors? If not, then who is? Most recently, I've been trailing after several branches and twigs all through the Appalachian Mountains, soon to follow in person, I hope! [1][2]

Thanks for your contributions to Puritan Great Migration (PGM) project profiles.
Like all WikiTree projects we check in with team members periodically to find out about their continued interest in the project. Would you please respond by February 12, 2024, to let us know about your interest:
1. Would you like to continue as a PGM project team member?;
2. Do you have any suggestions for PGM Project priorities in the next year (optional)?;
3. Do you have interest in taking a more active role within the PGM project, and if so, what you might be interested in doing (optional)?
Please respond to this comment on your profile, or if you'd like, send a private message to either Bobbie (Madison) Hall or S (Hill) Willson.
Thanks for all you do for PGM and WikiTree!
Regards,
Bobbie and Sharon, Co-Leaders, Puritan Great Migration Project
I noticed on Martha Short Pace Clapp's profile that Kathlene had removed her Category and then it says you had left it blank. 00:31: Loretta Buckner edited the Biography for Martha Ann (Short) Clapp (1876-1960). (Categorization. (Removing incorrect cemetery)) [Thank Loretta for this].
I think I entered Rocky River Baptist Church because that's where her husband, Aug Clapp, was buried...until I could get the correct cemetery categorized. I did not know (and still don't know) how to do that...and then overlooked it. If you don't mind could you please complete the categorization for her Profile? There are just a few people buried in the cemetery.
From my personal knowledge, my step-grandmother's cemetery is Short Family Cemetery, Glendon, Moore County, North Carolina.
The Cemetery name is in the 'Find A Grave' Source on the Profile.
Thank you very much, Marlene Brown
I will be setting up that cemetery "shortly" (ahahah) 😉

When you have the chance, please add your South Central Appalachia interests next to your name on our South Central Team page. While you’re there, you can read what others are working on and get to know us a little bit. Then join us on the Discord channel – we are a friendly bunch!
Also, please review our Reliable (and Unreliable) Sources for the Appalachia Project to help with sourcing our Profiles as you add or come across them. WikiTree requires valid sources on all Profiles and our Project has certain requirements for sources. Check the Appalachia Stickers Page for tips on adding stickers to profiles. In fact, you can add a team sticker to your own page!
I am always available for any questions or help. Thanks for joining the team.

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
The United States Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.
Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.
Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources).
