Why are so many FindAGrave memorials showing up as errors and ccannot be found?

I am having a lot of FindAGrave errors where the memorials have been removed from FindAGrave. This morning there are a lot on my Suggestions list and I know for sure that some of these are buried where the memorial says they are. These are family tombs with the names on the tomb in South Louisiana. I have been there and seen them and taken photos of most of them. Does anyone know what is happening that the memorials are removed from FindAGrave?

Please give an example, memorial id number.

Some of the times Find a Grave® Memorials are merged.

Also did you go to (example) the https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/417974/evergreen-washelli-memorial-park. And put in the Current Last. Name. (female use married name).

This is just one example. I had a few of these last week and I searched the cemetry and find a grave, etc and could not find anything. These are not, as far as I can tell, merged or changed numbers. When I have gone to the link for the memorial number, a page appears that says: Go back to homepage which is the homepage for FindAGrave. I am puzzled.

The FG link on the profile does not exist. You need to update them to include the correct ID for the memorial  For the example profile in your comment, the correct memorial number is:

To find the correct memorial,  I went to the cemetery and searched by name which brought up the correct memorial and copied the source link on that memorial

Gary, yes I did go to the various cemeteries and entered the names - I even searched the entire list on some smaller cemeteries and the names were not there.

Opps - obviously didn't notice the dates, just the name.  Did a search for the manager of your deleted memorial and the person has so many memorials it would probably be useless to contact and inquire about why it is gone.  By chance do all of your problem memorials have the same manager?  If that is the case, maybe they would recall what happened.

I can't tell if the manager is the same on all of them as I can't see the ones that don't work. When I search the cemetery, they do not appear in the cemetery. I just found the wife of Magnus Fields (she was not one of the delted ones) and Magnus is right there beside her - same tomb. I even have a personal photo of their names on the tomb. So, I am going to create a new FAG memorial for him and his mother,  post my photos and see what happens.

I think this has got to be a FindAGrave glitch. I had one show up in my suggestions this morning for a profile that's been there a long time. Like yours, the link came back as "This memorial has been removed." I tried searching for it, but didn't get any hits. Then I searched by the contributor ID and it said "No matches found."

I wonder if they've got a server down or something.

I think it is a FindAGrave glitch also and it is producing all these suggestions - I have 13 new ones today.

I found the wife of the ancestor I referenced above and sure enough, there he was right where he has been since 1965. FindAGrave did not have him listed and only had five "Fields" listed in the entire cemetery - so wrong!! So, I created a new profile for him and uploaded a photo of his tombstone. Then, I checked his wife and other family members and FindAGrave is now the manager of those profiles - I recognized the names of the previous managers so I think they are no longer managing and I grabbed up all these Fields. Bottom line this has something to do with management but why the memorials are not showing up is beond me.

Off to do more cemetery sleuthing!!
