Connection Finder seems to be making an error

Question

The connection finder,

Agnetha Fältskog is 35 Degrees from Richard Johnson

When making a correction by eliminating the brother, the connections change.

Evart Jay Bolinger - WikiTree Profile

When eliminating the husband, the connection changes.

Since these are the same person (my grandfather) why the major changes in the connections?

Hello Richard,

The connection is via your mother's father - Bolinger-402

Because Bolinger-402 and Bolinger-108 do not have the same ID - they are assumed to be different people (albeit with the same name).

So, if you remove your mother's father - Bolinger-402 you are removing the connection between your mother and Bolinger-108.

They are duplicated profiles which need to be merged. Because Bolinger-108 does not have the mother connected (and probably other different connections entered or not entered) it means that the connection paths might have some differences in them. It also looks like tour grandmother may have duplicate profiles as well.
