Newt Ellis-24994 ... my brickwall ancestor

John Ellis was born, I believe at Colne in Lancaster in 1802. His mother was Ann Ellis. She was listed on his Baptism as Spinster and there was no father listed. John is my Great Great Grandfather and in 1837 was convicted of Larceny and sent to Norfolk Island, NSW (one of Queen Vic's nastier hell holes), for 7 years. I think his Grandmother was also un known but her father was also, John Ellis but I am (and have been having), significant trouble getting past Ann and her father so, ANY HELP would be gratefully appreciated. There is a John Ellis who appears around the same time in Wales but he is in the 1851 English census when, I know he was at Yass NSW and in 1852 was swept away in a flood, body never recovered.
