Biography

I was born and raised in Oregon, living and working in southwestern Oregon all except 1 year of my life. I'm the 4th of 6 children and have a fraternal twin sister. My 1st career was as a secretary/bookkeeper. I then graduated from college to start my 2nd career as a wildlife biologist. I have one son and an adoring husband ;o). For fun I watch wildlife, walk the beach, ride motorcycles and am resuming my interest in genealogy. I'm especially interested in connecting my Witt line to existing lines. Ultimately, it might take DNA to verify the familial connection. Since I'm a biologist, that excites me!

HI Holly, I was about to unsubscribe to Wiki just because I get so many emails. Then I looked and saw your name. I compared my tree to yours and it seems we are related. I have done my DNA and maybe at some point I was notified that we are related, but I do not remember. Anyway, if interested you are welcomed to look me up. I did not even realize you could make tree on wiki. I have done genealogy over the years, but pretty sporadic . I am a DAR and Colonial Dames 17th Century. Lineage for those were through my Ogden line. I am aware that Witt line goes way back as well, I have not done the work on it. I would like to though.

Hi Pamela,

Yes, it appears we are 6th cousins through John and Lucy Witt. You descend through their son Abner, and I descend through their son Littleberry.

It's a long-shot that we will share any significant matching DNA segments, but definitely possible. I didn't see you as a match on Ancestry but I do have Witt relatives there that you could match.

I have your line in my Ancestry.com tree now and would like to work towards connecting your father in WikiTree, if that's okay with you. Please let me know if you see any errors. Also, I'm more than happy to add or make you Profile Manager on any of them. Just let me know.

You can manage your WikiTree notifications in "Settings" in the dropdown under "My WikiTree". It's probably the daily "Wiki Genealogy Feed" and "WT Family News" that is more than you want. Just uncheck those boxes.

Nice to hear from you and feel free to ask if you have any questions. Cheers, Holly

My husbands grandfather was a Witt but it seems to be a different line. I appreciate your thanks.

Hi Holly,

I'm slow in responding to your comment on Hopkins-57, but I *will* get back to you in about a week, as I currently have family visiting (including 2- and 5-year-olds). I should be able to get to it about the 21st. Looks good at first glance! Cheers, Bobbie

Hi Bobbie, just a friendly reminder, if you want to take care of the above. No rush on my part, I just know how my WT to-do list works ;o).

omg, I'm SO sorry! It did completely slip my mind/list/all of the above. Thank you for such a gentle nudge. I'm sending an email shortly.

Hi Holly, I noticed that you have been making a lot of changes to the profile of Elizabeth Jane Littleberry. Her profile is managed by the Southern Colonies and is PPP. Please wait for the project to respond before editing. These profiles are often controversial and require a lot of work. Your help is appreciated but please collaborate with the project by commenting and waiting for them to respond. You can read more about Project Managed Profile's and PPP Profiles. Thanks, Laura

Laura, thanks for the heads up; I understand! I moved Elizabeth's unsourced (and conflicting) birth info to Research Notes. Hopefully someone will post a source. I'm researching the Littlebury/Littleberry surname in colonial Virginia, and (so far) can't find a single record to support its existence. I'll be reaching out in G2G, so hopefully something will pop up.

Hi again Laura, do you know if others in the project are following the discussion about Elizabeth's LNAB and also feel it's time to change it to Unknown? I've added the highlights of what I've learned to Research Notes and comments but have more if needed.

Hello Holly,

I see that you are looking for information on Clyde Thomas. I am sure there are more than one Clyde Thomas -- but Clyde C. Thomas who lived most of his life in Ft. Worth TX was my uncle. If this is the person that you are looking for, please let me know and I think that I can fill in some gaps for you. You may reach me at [email address removed] Thanks,

Hi Holly,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. It looks like you are already doing the things recommended by the After Adopting Orphans FAQ. We really appreciate you becoming the caretaker of profiles!

Holly,

Thanks for working on my late wife's Witt ancestors, I decided it was time for me to withdraw. According to Relationship Finder, you're my 10C and my wife's 7C1R. Those are closer than my relationship to my wife. Tim

Hi Holly,

I just noticed you are following the Demorest Surname. This is my mother's maiden name and there are about 17 Different spellings within the U.S. and Canada that are all related in some fashion. May I ask, how and why you are interested in following this tag?

Hi, Holly!

I just noticed that you adopted Levi Fiscus. I always like to touch base with other Fiscus researchers just to say "hi." I've been here for a while working on my Fiscus family lines.

Please let me know if I can help with anything. :-)

Also, feel free to click over to my profile and use the Relationship Finder to see if we're cousins.

Take care --

Julie

It's your call regarding using Littleberry Witt's DAR record as a source. A number of these DAR records have such flaws. The only time I would not use as a source is if the record says, "Do NOT Use" as a DAR ancestry. I have come across a few of those.
I completed the merge of Susan Holmes. Feel free to adjust the profile.

Holly,

Completed the merge for the William Witts. Check the bio and make sure I didn't miss anything.

Holly,

I think your resolution entry on William Witt's profile looks good. Hopefully it will keep anyone from adding incorrect spouse.

Thanks for all the work you have been doing on the Witt family. Definite improvements.

Shirley

Hi Holly,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a Pre-1700 Project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.

It looks like US History would be a good fit with the tag you entered. Adding the tag United_States_History will help you get updates about activity for that project.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Hi H.F.,

A warm welcome to the WikiTree family! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

We’re really glad you’re here. More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.
