Hi, Sally

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Thanks for your advice Sheryl. My learning curve is arcing. I am a historian by nature and experience and an English teacher by profession, so "primary sourcing" is really in my wheel house.

My main problem has been the profusion of "help" pages on wikitree. It would be so helpful if there were a way to find "do's and don'ts" easily. Would that there were a simple list of "do's and don'ts" that were followed by instructions to find the page where the "Why's" are. (DAR has the same problem.) The instructions are absolutely daunting! For instance, I spent an hour yesterday trying to figure out how to remove the portrait of James H. Seay (Seay-555) on my page. I have placed the photo on HIS page and made it the primary, but like to remove it from my page. I really appreciate people like you who volunteer their time and knowledge.

Hi Sally

Thank you, Sally; I appreciate your comment.

You can search for pages using the Help Search tab under Help at the top right of your screen. I agree with your point, and there are help topics, but the wiki index needs some updating.

The first and best suggestion is to contact someone (me, for example) with the link to the profile and what you are trying to do, and I will reply as soon as possible.

To answer your question. Go to the image page and go to the section about adding the image; REMOVE your profile ID and save - the image will be taken off your profile when the system updates.

Take care ~ Sheryl
