Baptism Samuel Redman was Christened 26 July 1818 in Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire, England to William and Prudence Redman. His father William was recorded in the baptismal register as a weaver.[1]

Marriage: Samuel Redman married Hannah Maria Fisher on 9 August 1840 in St Peter and St Paul, Aston, Warwickshire, England, UK: The marriage register recorded that Samuel was an engineer, and Hannah Maria Fisher was a servant. Both were living at Ruston Street Birmingham. The register gives the names of their fathers: William Redman (weaver), Daniel Fisher (clothier).[2][3]

Arrival: Samuel Redman, Hannah and family arrived in Australia at Port Phillip, Melbourne on the ship Francis Ridley on 12th February 1849. Hannah was listed as "Anna Marie" and their 5 children were also listed: Joseph Henry, Samuel, Sarah Ann, Alfred and baby son Francis Ridley who was born during the voyage to Australia, and was named after the ship. They came as Assisted Immigrants.[4]

Death: Samuel Redman died on 6 January 1900 at Dungog, NSW, Australia.[5]

He was buried at Hanley's Flat Cemetery Near Dungog, New South Wales Australia.

Obituary, Dungog Chronicle : Durham and Gloucester Advertiser 9 January 1900:

Death. — Still another old resident of the district has passed over to the silent majority. On Saturday last, Samuel Redman, of Dowling-street, after a short illness from bronchitis died at the ripe old age of 81 years. Deceased was born in Birmingham (England), where he was married in 1840. He arrived in Melbourne nine years afterwards, and came straight to this district, where he has resided ever since. For Several years he acted as postmaster in Dungog, was school teacher, farmer, and watchmaker in turn. He was the father of a family of nine, five of whom are living, and he leaves a great number of grand-children and great grand children. The late Mr Redman was held in high esteem, and his funeral, which took place on Sunday, was very largely attended. His remains were interred in the Presbyterian portion of the cemetery, the D. Baird, officiating at the grave.[6]

8. Daniel Redman born 31 May 1857 at Glen William, Dungog.
9. Charles Frederick Redman born 25 May 1860 and he died 1860 at Dungog.
