Biography

Paul King was born in Lancashire, England.

Paul was born in Accrington, Lancashire, England, in 1873. ^[1][2] He was the son of Welbury King and Unknown. Mother appears different in both the 1881 and 1891 census). He was enumerated in the 1881 census ^[3] as a six year old lodger residing with his parents and two siblings in the household of Charles Brierley, 16 Ayr Street, Salford, Lancashire. The family relocated to Yorkshire where Paul appeared in the 1891 census ^[4] residing with his family at 6 Brow Street, Keighley. He was sixteen and a "Machine Fitter Apprentice".

Paul married Margaret Inman in 1899.^[5] The ceremony was performed on July 25th in Keighley at St Andrew. According to the Parish Register, ^[6] Paul was a twenty four year old bachelor and "Fitter" residing at 11 Prince Street, Keighley. His father was named as Welbury King "Fitter". Maggie was a twenty three year old spinster and "Twister" residing at 24 Vale Mill Lane, Keighley. Her father was named as William James Inman (deceased) "Shoe Maker". The witnesses were Jeffrey Foulds and Mary Hannah Inman. The couple would have seven children between 1901 and 1914.

Paul and Margaret appeared in the 1901 census ^[7] residing at 118 Valley Road, Shipley, Yorkshire, with two month old son Paul Sylvester. Three of Margaret's siblings, Thomas, Theresa, and Clara also at residence. Paul's occupation "Loom Fitter". The family was living at 8 Fernter Street, Shirpley, in 1911.^[8] Paul's occupation "Loom Fitter". Six children at residence ages ten years to five months old. Five sisters in law also at residence.

Paul passed away in 1914. ^[9] His death was registered in the third quarter in North Bierley, Yorkshire. He was forty.
