Hi Tammy, It looks like you may have some outstanding merges that need attention. You can find them by following the link at the top of this page under >My Wikitree>Watchlist, then hit the button that says Pending Merges. If you need help, just ask.

Thanks for helping with Wikitree

A merge has been proposed for Gunn-3378 and Gunn-3482. They represent the same person.
Congratulations in getting back before 1700! Since you are now back in the time period where many people can be descended from those ancestors, we need more details in your source area. As collaborative genealogists, we need to tell each other our sources so that we can work together to assess the relative reliability of the source and the evidence it contains. See the help page here https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles

You might want to coordinate with the England Project. Here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:England

Also, are you familiar with this? https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources_FAQ#When_should_the_Unsourced_Research_Note_Box_be_used.3F

Can you teach me how to add a source link? People keep saying that, but all I can figure out is to copy and paste. Not real great on computers sometimes.

Tammy - there are probably many who can help you better than I with sourcing. If you do have ancestors from England, the England Project has an orphan trail. Of course you can reach out to anyone who has greeted you, or to anyone on the list of Mentors to see if they can direct you to places to get help.

Copy and paste will get you a long way to sourcing, when combined with searching for the sources. The RootsSearch tool is great (under Research from the Name-xxx menu). First you login (the problem with that should be fixed shortly), then pick where to research -- I prefer familysearch. You might need to adjust some of the search criteria (e.g., for Lydia Ann Barrett you might need to search for Lydia Brewington). Once you find the familysearch record, you can just copy/paste the text under Citing this Record. I'll add a couple of examples for you on Lydia and your grandfather. For the FindAGrave references, I just click the link for view source, copy that paragraph, then change it to remove the URL and add the template -- see this on Lydia's profile.

Thanks for the thanks. Are you related to Lydia Nolen? She is an ancestor of my wife.

Thanks Tammy for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz

As Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within a project coordinating them is essential. Please ensure location data matches dates of profile, avoid abbreviations, add sources with citations & links for sources to support the data. From wiki ID go to Research to find sources

The United States  Project would be of interest. Adding the tag UNITED_STATES will connect you

Explore Pre-1700 Projects list to find one that fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic   Questions ask Here
