Obituary from Elmvale Lance newspaper:
On Thursday, March 10th.,Mr. John Reid, who lived far from the maddening crowd's ignoble strife, passed peacefully away, in his ninety-first year. Deceased was born in Weston and lived in King Township, Stroud, and Wyevale before becoming a resident of Saurin about forty years ago. About sixty-four years ago he married Elizabeth Birdle, who with a family of two sons and five daughters ____________. The family are: Thomas Reid, Toronto; William, Elmvale; Mrs. Finlay MacArthur, Mrs J.F. Brown and Mrs. B.E. Sandiford, Toronto; Mrs. W.E. Archer, Tiny; and Mrs. Sam Lyness, Port Credit. The funeral to Elmvale cemetery was held on Saturday afternoon, March 12th. The pallbearers were: Messrs. John Downer, Alex McGrath, Finlay MacArthur, William Archer, John Braithwaite and Emerson Legace. The services at Wycliffe church and Elmvale cemetery were conducted by Rev. W.C. Stubbs, Rector of the Parish of Elmvale.
