Who is the family of Hamilton Wilson, 1807-1870, Stokes & Davidson counties, North Carolina

Hamilton Wilson, my third great grandfather, was born in either Stokes or Davidson County, North Carolina. There are a few trees on ancestry which say he is the son of James Wilson and Hannah Bryan, but I can find no verification of this, and no trail that I can find even leads to them. I have done a bit of research on James Wilson (Wilson-37690) to no avail.

I have done my research, and the family tree is nice and tidy until I get to Hamilton. Other than his wife and children, Hamilton seems to have no other family except perhaps Joshua Wilson (Wilson-36020) who was bondsman for Hamilton's marriage, and who was born in Maryland.

There is a lot going on here with Hamilton. My questions are: 1. Is he really a child of James and Hannah Bryan Wilson? Personally I don't think so, but I could be wrong. 2. If not James and Hannah, who are his parents?  3. are he and Joshua Wilson brothers or related in any other familial way?

I appreciate any help, with sincere thanks.

This 1860 US Census has him born in NC, rather than MD or another state.

You are absolutely correct, Gill. He reports his birthplace as North Carolina. I had momentarily forgotten that when I typed the question. It was actually an afterthought and not well thought out. I have edited so it will not detract from more important questions. Thanks.

IDK it's fishy to me my name is shannah Wilson . Im told wilson comes from a james wilson whos inicials are tattooed on my moms arm but yet she claims that she had to put that for dhs reasons and she at age 13 told me who my dad is IDK really how that works out

Thanks everyone for your responses. A couple weeks after I posted this a distant relative joined WikiTree. He had family information which he shared with me, and much of the mystery of Hamilton Wilson was solved. I still have a lot of work to do, however. I am currently trying to determine if my Wilson family came from Pennsylvania to Frederick County, Virginia, with Morgan Bryan and Alexander Ross. I suspect the answer is yes, but I need evidence.

So many John, Thomas, and Abraham Wilsons, too little time.
