Category Requests: Camp Lawton, Millen, Ga, Confederate Prison -Still Need POW Prison category

Edit to the request. Only need the POW camp category. (The cemetery category is not needed).

I would like for someone to make a category in Prison Camps.

1) Could someone please make a category for "Camp Lawton, Millen, Georgia, Prisoners of War" in the Confederate American Civil War Camps for Union POWs.

Since I see references to Camp Lawton and sometimes to Millen, Ga, I think we should put both in the category name to make it easy to find (whether you are searching for Camp Lawton or Millen).

I anticipate we will have several Union soldiers who were imprisoned at Camp Lawton.

Thank you.

By the way, Daniel Vowles was imprisoned at Camp Lawton, but he was buried elsewhere. We only need the POW camp category added to his profile. Thanks.
The FindAGrave for Camp Lawton Cemetery has only four names. Don't you find this to be painfully redundant? The cemetery is defunct as of 1868 and all remains have been reinterred in Beaufort.
If you feel a cemetery category is not needed, I will defer to your judgment on that. We still need to have Camp Lawton category in the Confederate POW Camps category.
If you would be so kind as to take over E p.1,2 on the current challenge, I'll go back to work on the spreadsheet of the Camp Millen POWs.
Victoria,

I will be glad to finish the Es if you prefer to work on Camp Lawton.

When I posted the question about the category, I was thinking further down the line.  Thinking with a category for the Prison, whenever anyone working an Andersonville profile that was transferred to Lawton could add the Lawton category. That would make it easier for you to track who all was at Lawton.  That was what I had in mind.  Still think we need someone to create that POW camp category.

As for the E's.  Do you know where you left off. I will pick up there.
I was going to start Ferdinand Eberlein.
Ok,  I will start with the one after Ferdinand Eberlein.
I've put a test run of my database on the Camp Lawton free space page. Once it's completed, maybe we could get a challenge up to create profiles.
That sounds like a good idea.

Okay Norman, I get the hint! Get to work on Camp Lawton. Aye, aye, Captain. If you take over pages one and two on the Vicksburg project, I'll scoot over to Lawton. I have the burial registers for the POW Camp. Most were reinterred in Beaufort. Let me check.

I double checked and all bodies were removed to Beaufort National Cemetery during the month of Feb. 1868. Quartermaster General's Office, May 1868. https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/31195:61388?tid=&pid=&queryId=2c2aba86-8101-48cf-8e8f-09b9de1372b9&_phsrc=KOk9870&_phstart=successSource
If all bodies have been moved, I think we can skip the category for the cemetery.

I will edit my post to ask for only the POW camp category.
Ha. I really had not intended this to prod you along. I looked at your project and saw we did not have categories created for it yet. So I thought I'd have those categories created to assist you and others. If we can get a Camp Lawton POW camp category placed on profiles when someone comes across a POW who was at Camp Lawton, I figured that would be an easier way to track who all passed through that prison.

I had not done enough research on the cemetery aspect. DId not realize everyone had been moved away.

I really was not intending to push you along, just to make the path easier.

I can finish the 1st two pages of E's in this month challenge if you prefer to work on Camp Lawton. I will leave that choice up to you. But, I was not trying to push you out of the monthly Challenge back to Camp Lawton. Camp Lawton will be there later.  You don't have to leave the monthly challenge for it.

I keep trying to find some way for the group to help identify all the POWs who passed through Camp Lawton. The Camp Lawton page gets finished whenever it gets finished. There are not deadlines or time pressures. (That is the approach I take with POWs who died at Andersonville. Who knows will that will get finished).
