Could someone help me with a War Sticker?

I have tried to do the WW1 sticker, but between being a newbie and a techno-dork, I have failed!

My grandfather was in the British Army in WW1.  He was a Lieutenant in the 9th Black Watch.  I don't know his start and end dates, but I'm told he joined in October 1914 - he turned 18 on October 13th.

I was told he was promoted to Captain in May 1916, but the National Archives just shows him as Lt.

He was wounded at the Somme in Sept. 1916, and the National Archives show him as a soldier from 1914 - 1917.

Thank you for any help.

{{The Great War |branch=British Army |startdate=1914 |units=9th Battlion, Black Watch |enddate=1917 rank=Lieutenant}}

I'm not sure if the sticker adds the category, but you can add it manually using the category picker. That is how I knew the 9th Black Watch was the 9th Battalion! I would just use the years given in the records until another record is found that is more specific. Same with the rank.

Thank you so much, Lucy!

Now, I have that coding to use for other military family members.

Happy New Year!
I fixed a little typo and a couple other minor things. Best wishes, and happy new year.
Thanks, Mark, I didn't even notice that.
