I believe I have fixed the problem. Let me know if I missed anything?

Tip on ref tags, when you want to reuse your citation in your bio. Create your citation this way. 

<ref name=Bristol>Citation of source text</ref>

Then in other spots in your bio you only need to do this

<ref name=Bristol/>

You had done this  - <ref> name=Bristol /> The extra tag after the word ref and the space after the word Bristol is what caused all the problems.

Thanks for the fixes. I didn't create the bio. It is an DNA ancestor of mine and I was adding confidences for parents. I started work on the bio and found it much too complicated for me at the moment.

Correctly the reuse should be <ref name=Bristol /> with a space between the l of Bristol and the />
Just because it works without the space, doesn't mean it is correct.

Also, it needs to be said that if you use multiple words in a ref name=, you need to enclose it thusly <ref name="Bristol Registers">Citation of source text</ref> with the repeated use being <ref name="Bristol Registers" />

Thank you for the tip on multiple words, wasn't aware of that. I have one question though. If the ref tag works without the space after the single word <ref name=Bristol/> why is it incorrect or rather why should we not use that format??
