The Scotland Project is hard at work improving profiles for our Scottish Ancestors and we would love you to join us!  The Project covers all things Scottish, so no matter what you interests are, there's a team waiting for you!

You'll begin with a journey down our new Tartan Trail (you can learn more about it here) where you'll not only improve and/or learn new skills, but will also meet new people and learn to work within an active, collaborative WikiTree community.  Once you've completed the Tartan Trail, you'll be invited to join other teams within the project that interest you.

Membership Information

If you are new to WikiTree and have not become a full member you will need to upgrade to Wiki Genealogist Level. Sign our Honor Code to receive your Wiki Genealogist badge, which is a necessity for editing profiles. Full details can also be found on the Scotland Project home page. This will also give you a time line of what to expect from the Tartan Trail.

To start your journey, post an ANSWER below!

Don't forget to add the Scotland tag to your profile page

If you leave a *comment* here instead of an *answer,* your comments will be read and then removed. This thread is only for joining the project, and all other questions should be started on a separate G2G post.

Again, please be certain to *answer* above, not *comment.*

I would like to join the "Scottish Project". AncestryDNA informs me I am 50% Scottish, 17% Irish....

I'm particularly curious about various tartans.
I would like to join please.

My Ancestors come from Orkney, Outer Hebrides and Shetlands.

The surnames that I have in my Tree are:

Flaws (my Grandmother)

Davidson (my Great Grandmother)

MacKenzie (my Great Grandmother)

Manson, Lennie, Russell, MacLaren (my Great Great Grandmother's)

I also have McCabe and Gorman confirmed.

Two of my Great Aunts had middle names that I can't find anywhere in the family so far.  They are Hood and MacDoughall.

I've been interested in the Scottish side of my family since I was a teenager with always knowing that my Grandmother's surname was Flaws and being very curious about that side now my family.

I always knew they were from Orkney and Lewis but never knew much about the islands until I started researching properly.

I just wish I'd asked my Grandmother more about her family and her memories but unfortunately she passed away when I was 15.

I've been doing my Family Tree and seriously researching since 1999.

Ancestry DNA says I'm 45% Scottish which I'm very proud of,

Regards

Catherine Field

Hello--I am actively researching my Menzie ancestors.  Prior to settling in Madison County, NY, I believe they came from Dull, Perthshire.  I would love to get involved with the project.  Thank you.  Betsy Ko (Ko-31)

Hello, I am interested in joining the project. Long history of Grayson's and Campbell's in my family. I think i am connected to the MacGregor  and Campbell clans. Would love to learn more. The relationship tool on this site indicates I am a direct descendant of some Scottish notables, saints, and royalty, but I've not done the research myself to verify.

Hello,

I thought I did this earlier today, but I must have messed up. I would like to become a member of the Scotland Project. my paternal GGF William L. Craig and GGM Jane Greig both came from Scotland in the late 1800's. My paternal DNA, goes back to Aye in the late 1500's to early 1600's and sits on a small DNA Branch with one other Craig. His family traceable to Perthshire while mine is traceable to Aberdeenshire. However I have a major roadblock with my GGM Jane, and am hoping that by joining this Group, I might learn from other with like Scottish road blocks.

Dear all, I have an interest in Scottish ancestors. Hope to find some of mine!

Do you know some Landel (or another spelling) ancestors from Scotland who moved to France before 1740?

Hi, I would like to join the Scotland project.  I am exploring my distant ancestor the Rev James Keith who was born around 1644 and travelled to the USA. Although not finding his immediate ancestors thus far, I believe that I can add quite a number of additional Keith’s born pre 1700 using many of the primary and secondary sources that I have found.
My maternal grandparent was Eleanor Temby McLean, whose father was Thomas McFarlane McLean and his parents were James McBeath McLean and Mary McFarlane and hence I suppose I too have Scotland in my genes and an interest in this countries colourful history.
