Notes

Note N221Edythe Wilson reports that Ann Neill Wilson moved to Iowa with her brother, Ebenezer. She had 3 children by William Russell.
The genealogy tree reports 5 children and so does Joe Foster Wilson. If there were 5 children in the family, the earlier 2 children are probably from an earlier marriage before Ann Neill Wilson.
Ann Neill Wilson, named after her great-grandmother, was born in 1790 in Woodley Town, Murderkill Hundred. Apparently while she was still quite young she married William Russell. She was soon known affectionately to all of the family as "Aunt Russell." Deed records show that in 1834 "William Russell and his wife Ann" sold some parcels of "marsh and low ground" at the mouth of the St. Jones Creek in St. Jones Hundred. Forty-five acres of the best land was sold to Jeremiah S. Nixon for a dollar an acre, and another forty was bought by John B. Conner for a total of .
In 1836 Ann Russell, her husband and children, together with her sister and family, migrated to Indiana, where their brothers had settled two years before. Ann and her family settled on a farm near the village of Danville, probably across the line in Rush County.
About a decade later some of her husband's family apparently settled in Van Buren County, Iowa and might have been joined by some of Ann's children. In the early 1840s she and some of her children left Indiana for Iowa and located in Jackson Township in Van Buren County in the new territory. It appears that her husband died sometime just before this last move. The census of 1850 shows that the owned a farm in Van Buren County, valued at 00 (probably at least a hundred acres). The census of 1870 shows her as "residing with family." She died in the summer of 1876 at the age of 86 according to Joe Foster Wilson, or in 1878 at the age of 88 according to Ancestry.com.
