Samuel (P or K)'s first wife was Alice Letty Gowen Easley, not Jane Easley. Land records in Hickman Co, TN confirm her name. Samuel's second wife was Malinda Grey. He had children with both wives. His third wife was Catherine Erwin, widow of a Mr. Ledbetter. Catherine and Samuel did not have any children together.

Whitson-1027 and Whitson-614 should not be merged because: Samuel Whitson, 1797-1871 was son of William Whitson and Anne McDowell. He was a minister. Some descendants have his middle initial as K, others as P (for Pleasant). Samuel K. Whitson is the next generation, son of George Whitson & Priscilla Vance, and grandson of William and Anne McDowell Whitson. Samuel K. was born about 1820/23 and died about 1900. He was nephew of Samuel 1797-1871. Samuel K. was a physician and lived in Bedford Co, TN. He married Mary A. Hall.

I believe Samuel K. Whitson has been confused with Samuel Pleasant Whitson, and mistakenly recorded in a number of connected family trees. According to the information I have, Samuel Pleasant Whitson was the uncle of Samuel K. Whitson. Samuel P. had a brother George, who was the father of Samuel K. Samuel K. was born about 1820 and died about 1900. Samuel P. and his brother George were sons of William Whitson and Ann McDowell. Samuel Pleasant Whitson's wife was Alice Letty Gowen Easley, not Jane Easley.

I don't know this for certain, but I suspect that Samuel's K. middle initial stands for Kenneth, just as Ruth Bond Whitson's brother was Robert Kenneth Whitson.
