Moses Walmsley was born on August 30, 1793 in Lower Eccleshill, Eccleshill, Blackburn, Lancashire, England. He was the son of James Walmsley and Peggy Nevill. He was christened on October 6, 1793, at Lower Chapel in Darwen, Lancashire. Both of his parents names were listed, including his mother's maiden name Peggy Nevill. Richard Smalley officiated. [1]
He married Catherine Green on January 03, 1815 at St Mary the Virgin in Blackburn. Moses was a bachelor and employed as a weaver. Catherine was a spinster. They were both of the St Mary parish. The ceremony was performed by R. Cardwell. William Maudsley and James Bolton witnessed the marriage. [2] Together they had 9 children:
In the 1841, according to the first England census, Moses was 45 years old, a cotton worker and living on Lodge Street in Blackburn, Lancashire with his wife and 9 children. [3]
Moses Walmsley died on about November 15, 1867 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England at the age of 74 years. [4] He was laid to rest on November 17, 1867 at the Blackburn Cemetery in Darwen, Blackburn.
