Biography

Harold Kay Walker was the fourth child and third son of Lewis Gideon Walker (1850-1936) and Matilda Cooper (1849-1936), both of Coshocton county, Ohio and who were married there on 24 December 1868. He was born in Tiverton township of Coshocton county in Ohio on 18 December 1882.^[1] By 1900, his oldest brother, Wilmer Russell, had married and moved away from home, but all his other siblings were still there; Cora Myrtle 1875, Jasper Fletcher 1879, Lake Leroy 1885, Ava Dell 1888 and Ralph Cooper 1895.^[2]

He married Martha Matilda Trimble on 1 August 1907 in Knox county, Ohio.^[3] She was the daughter of William Trimble and Elizabeth Moore and she was born in Chicago on 28 July 1885. In 1910 they were living in Mount Vernon of Knox county in Ohio, with no children in their household.^[4] They had twin sons on 16 February 1912 at Mount Vernon; Robert Lewis and James Trimble. A third son William Kay, joined them in Mount Vernon on 23 March 1915.^[5]

WWI Draft Registration shows his address was 500 E. Vine in Mt. Vernon and his occupation was vice president of the Johnston, Walker McCrackin Company on 12 September 1918. He was medium height, medium build with blue eyes and brown hair.^[6]

Residence in 1920: Clinton, Knox, Ohio.^[7] Not sure why the twins were recorded with ages 9 & 7 and Richard instead of Robert.
Residence in 1930: Mount Vernon, Knox, Ohio.^[8] That wass the year that James and Robert graduated from high school. Robert then went to Bethany College of West Virginia and graduated from Ohio State University in 1935.

Both of his parents died in 1936; his mother in April and his father in August. Two of their boys, James and William were married in 1939.

Residence in 1940: Mount Vernon, Knox, Ohio.^[9]

WWII Draft Registration 1942.^[10] He must have felt a strong sense of duty to his country to register at age 60.

Harold Kay Walker died on 3 April 1957. His burial was in the Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.^[11][12]
