Biography
Caroline was born about 1810. Until a marriage record is located the birth name of Caroline is unknown. She was born in Connecticut according to the 1850 census which was confirmed by a later census for her daughter Clara Miller who listed place of mother's birth. Caroline married John Miller around 1835 as their son Jesse was born in 1836. The location of the marriage is problematic as Probate Records of 1839 list John as living in the tiny hamlet of Perry, Genesee County. Son Ruben listed it as his birthplace in military records. If they married there records may be hard to locate. The family returned to a much larger Town of Poughkeepsie by 1850. Caroline died after that as John moved again to Marengo, Illinois and married there in November 1861.
