Note: This James Thompson has been variously attached to fathers named William Douglas, Samuel Douglas, and James Thompson, the second husband of Mary Denison, and a different one than currently attached. The most likely situation is that his father was James Thompson, whose wife Mary (nee possibly Dixson) is not yet profiled. He is not likely descended from the James Thompson who was the second husband of Mary Denison.
James was born 14 Nov 1753 at Stonington, Connecticut. He was the fifth child of James Thompson.
