Biography

Madeleine (Theriault) Thériot was born in 1683 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Claude Thériot (abt. 1637–1725) and Marie Gautrot (abt. 1645–1732).

In 1686, at Port Royal, Magdelaine [sic], aged 5, was living with her parents, Claude TERRIOT [sic], aged 49, and Marie GOTRO [sic], aged 49, and her seven siblings: Jean, aged 18, Anne, aged 14, Jeanne, aged 12, Claude, aged 8, Marie, aged 7, Pierre, aged 2, and Elisabet [sic], aged 1. The family owned 1 gun and was living on 13 arpents of cultivable land with 8 cattle and 6 sheep.^[1]

Census, Littleton, Massachusetts, 1760, 87 years old (she must have been one that the English deported).

Madeleine (18) married François (Robichaud) Robichaud dit Niganne (24) (born about 1677 in Port-Royal; son of Étienne Robichaud and Françoise Boudrot) in 1702 in Port-Royal.^[2] Their known children were:

Research Notes

Marie Madeleine Theriault, daughter of Claude Theriault and Marie Gautrot Theriault, and Francois Robichaux, son of Etienne Robichaux, were married in 1702.^[7]
