Biography

Élisabeth (Terriot) Thériot was born about 1686 in Port Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, daughter of Claude Thériot (abt. 1637–1725) and Marie Gautrot (abt. 1645–1732).

In 1686, at Port Royal, Elisabet [sic], aged 1, was living with her parents, Claude TERRIOT [sic], aged 49, and Marie GOTRO [sic], aged 49, and her seven siblings: Jean, aged 18, Anne, aged 14, Jeanne, aged 12, Claude, aged 8, Marie, aged 7, Magdelaine [sic], aged 5, and Pierre, aged 2. The family owned 1 gun and was living on 13 arpents of cultivable land with 8 cattle and 6 sheep.[1]

She was found in 1693 with her parents and two more younger siblings[2]

Élisabeth (20) married Antoine Blanchard (25) (born about 1681 in Port-Royal, Acadie; son of Guillaume Blanchard and Huguette Gougeon) on 31 Jan 1707 in Port-Royal, Acadie.[3][4] Their known children were:

  1. Marie Josephe Blanchard (1708–1772) .
  2. Anne Marie BLANCHARD 1710-
  3. Marie Madeleine Blanchard (1711–bef. 1779) .
  4. Jean Baptiste Blanchard (1714–1779) .
  5. Honoré Blanchard (abt. 1716–aft. 1763) .
  6. Paul Blanchard (1718– ) .
  7. Isabelle Blanchard (1721–1773) .
  8. Marguerite Blanchard (1724–1724) .
  9. Anne Blanchard (1725–abt. 1800)
  10. Marguerite BLANCHARD 1728-

Isabelle Terriot passed away 27 Mar 1735, aged about 48 years and was interred at Port Royal the next day. Witnesses were Guillaume Blanchard, Antoine Blanchard, Pierre Blanchard, and Claude Girouard.[5]
