Marie Madeleine was born on 21 September 1732. [1] She was the daughter of Jean Theriot and Marie Daigle.
She married Jean-Baptiste Granger, son of Joseph Granger and Marguerite LeBlanc, on 1 March 1753 at Rivière-aux-Canards. [1]

On 5 September 1755, Jean-Baptiste was imprisoned along with hundreds of other Acadian men at the St. Charles des Mines church in Grand Pré. On a list of prisoners, he was said to live in the village Jean Terriot with 2 daughters (spouses were not included on the list), and owned 5 bullocks, 7 cows, 8 young cattle, 40 sheep, 12 hogs, and 1 horse. His property and livestock became forfeit to the crown, and his family was required to prepare for deportation within 30 days. [2][3]
On 27 October 1755 Jean-Baptiste, Marie Madeleine and their daughters Marie-Josèphe and one whose name was lost to history, were deported to Virginia aboard one of the 14 ships that departed on that day. The colony was not welcoming to these Frenchmen who spoke a different language and worshiped differently. They were also considered a financial burden. So they sent the Acadians on to England where they were neglected and subjected to poor conditions. Many of them died from smallpox as a result. They left Virginia for England in May 1756, aboard the Fanny Bovey. [3] The ship transporting 204 Acadians arrived in Falmouth, England on 18 June 1756. [4] From there they were taken to Penryn, England. [3]
"The family was held at Falmouth, England; entered France at Morlaix. Three other children were born in Belle-Ile, where they were again in 1792. They were family #2 at Andrestol, Le Palais, Belle-Ile in 1765. " [5]
She passed away on 1 February 1811 at Bourg, Sauzon, Belle-Ile-en-Mer, Bretagne (now département de Morbihan), France. [1]
