Harry Taylor Amadio was born in Redfern, New South Wales on 28th December 1901. He was the eldest of the four accomplished musical sons of Harry Taylor and Florence Beer.[1]
As Harry Taylor he married Sara Dalley in 1925.[2]
But it was as Harry Amadio Jnr that he became a noted up-and-coming pianist. After injuring his right hand, Harry exchanged the keyboard for trumpet and French horn; using his good left hand to play the instruments equally well.
All of Harry's brothers also became professional musicians. Clive Amadio AM was a clarinetist and saxophonist who founded the Clive Amadio Quintet, and presented a Sunday evening radio program The Clive Amadio Half Hour for over ten years until 1958; and Leon Amadio was a trumpeter. Neville Amadio AM MBE became a well-known Australian orchestral principal flautist.
It was as Harry Amadio that he passed away in 1986.[3]
