Thanks for posting the photo of SS Cuzco, the ship my Great Grandmother emigrated on with her family from Sweden in 1888. I have five photos of this ship now, but yours is facing a different way from another look-a-like.

Hi, thanks for working on Doig-830! Looks great. I uploaded a few pics recently of the Ron Doig Block at Fremantle Hospital. I just thought I'd mention a little tool that I'm working on to make it easier to copy and paste WA BMD references. Here's Ron's birth entry for example: https://wabmd.nfshost.com/birth/1909/1600214

All good Sam, thanks for the email, this family is a rich vein of profiles that I plan to work through. Unless this is your family, then I am happy to back off and move on to further Western Australian Aussie Rules footballers, and specifically Hall of Famers, which is my current project.

As for your version of the WA BMD references they look good, but I am quite happy with my own references and don't see any need to change my system as yet. I use the same format for BMDs for each state and its all just cut and paste with different URLs ofcourse.

Feel free to use your version in place of mine, if you feel it enhances the profiles though. And I am happy to hand the profiles over to you as Profile Manager, if you want to take them on.

Regards Danny Stapleton in Canberra part of the Australia Project Team.

No worries Danny, you go for it! I'm not related to the Doigs, I just dug into it because I wondered who the hospital building was named after. I've got plenty of other things to be working on! :)

With the BMD citations, the thing I'm trying to sort out is how to search for profiles that already cite their BMD records, hence the addition of the "WABMD-birth-1909/1600214" as a unique string to search for. If only the WA govt provided stable URLs for these! But anyway, it's just an experiment at the moment and I'm definitely not trying to change anyone's workflow or style guide.

I used to live in Canberra. Hope it's still as lovely as always! :)

Hi Danny,

We're contacting you for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. We really appreciate your involvement in the Project in the last year. Thank you so much for all your help to improve Australian profiles on WikiTree.

Please could you reply to this message, or send me a private message to let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and if you'd like to make any changes to the teams that you belong to. The teams are listed on Australia Project Teams.

If you've moved on to other things for the moment, that's absolutely fine. We'd appreciate if you'd let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list.

Over the past year, Australia Project members have been more active on Discord. We're finding it a fun way to communicate as a project. If you're not on Discord yet, here's some information - Help:Discord. If you are already on the WikiTree Discord server, let us know, and we can send you an invite link to the dedicated Australia Project server (WikiAustralia) where all our chat channels are located. It's a great way to communicate with other members on your project team/s, or for any general questions.

We're always happy to receive any ideas or suggestions that you have to make our project even better.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Margaret and Veronica

Thanks Danny for adding and other categories for my cousin Ernest Leslie Frith.

Hi Danny,

It's time for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. Thank you so much for contributing to the project and Australian profiles on WikiTree during the last year. We really appreciate you!

If you would like to stay in the project, please reply to this message or send me a private message to let us know that you would like to stay on. Alternatively, if your WikiTree and research interests have moved away from Australia, please let us know and we can remove you from the membership list for the moment. You will, of course, be very welcome to rejoin the project down the track whenever you want to.

We are also keen to know if you want to make any changes to the team or teams that you want to focus on. Take a look on Australia Project Teams to see what teams there are to choose from. If you want to discuss this, or have any questions or suggestions about the Australia Project we'd love to hear your ideas.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to us!

Hi Danny,

The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out our annual check-in to see how you are going in the project. We'd really like to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles over the past year! We think we've made great progress in 2020/21 with your assistance.

Please could you reply to this message, to let us know if you would like to stay on in the project and if you are happy with your current role and team involvement. If you would like to do something additional or different, take a look on the Australia Project page to see what other options there are.

It would also be great to get any feedback or suggestions that you have to improve the project.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Margaret Haining Membership Coordinator

Hi Margaret; I am still active with Australia Project stuff; mainly immigration and shipping. Though I dabble in Notables, Cemeteries and Convicts from time to time, but only if they intersect with my own tree or if I come across them as they affect a Profile I have taken on.

I probably have way to many irons in the fire to think of taking on any further roles or projects as yet. And I am happy to just continue as I am if that is ok.

Regards

G'day, which information are you looking for concerning Bentley-1642?
posted by Andrew Lancaster
No all good Andrew just hoping you or someone else connected to this family would want to extend the tree. I was able to link her daughter Anne who already existed in the tree to them. But I don't have enough info from your existing records to find any more.

I got interested in the Norton family through my work with the Australia Project on immigration Categories. But yo shouldn't feel obliged to do so if you are working in a different direction. It was mainly just a note for any casual researcher in this area who may come along to take up the baton.

Good luck with your tree

Hi Danny,

You've added a line, "Note the master is sometimes listed as Captain Hahn.", inside the Category: Catharina, Arrived 22 Jan 1939.

I don't remember seeing this comment made before and I don't think it is accurate - can you identify the source?

Captain Dirk Meinerts Hahn is well known (in SA) as the master of the Zebra (Arrived 1839). The Zebra was the first immigrant ship to arrive in Port Adelaide flying a foreign (non-British) flag. Captain Hahn was popular with the immigrants and they settled and named Hahndorf in his honour. Thanks, Steve.

Steve I found it a few times on TROVE. Hi Danny

Thank you so much for responding to our check-in for the Categorization Project

We are sorry to hear that you are not currently active, but we understand that interests shift as we grow our shared tree and that some members may have moved on to projects more pertinent to the branches they are currently building. Please know that you will always be welcome to rejoin should your interests shift back in this direction.

Thank you so much for your participation; we genuinely appreciate it.

Danny, there are categorization errors in https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Juliana/Morayshire/Mary_Hay_1838

I had sent a PM to you a few days ago about it. Perhaps it didn't go through. I've added a note on that page.

Hi Danny, Thanks for adding name of ship in which Eliza McNally arrived. I can be a bit of a pedant. When Eliza died, it was the colony of New South Wales. Australia came later Thanks.
