Biography
Henry was born in Tennessee in 1856[1] or 1857[2], a younger son of Birden Smith and Elizabeth Strange. He married Satha “Ellen" Loveall in Missouri in 1885[3] and together they had at least one son[4]. We do not know when he passed, but his widow remarried in 1893[5].
Research Notes
While collecting data for Henry's younger brother Doc (q.v.), it became apparent that the only reasonable way to reconcile conflicting information on the 1860 and 1870 and later censuses was to see the 1860 listing for "Price" as being for the same person as the 1870 entry for "Henry," and that the listing for "Henry" in 1860 was actually an erroneous reference to Doc. This is also corroborated by the 1880 census, and also the 1900 census for Doc by a birth month and year of August, 1859.
