Capt. Thomas Shores was born about 1733 in Shelburne, Leesburg, Loudoun, Virginia to parents Richard Shore and Mary Hulse.
He married Sarah Woodson about 1755 in Fairfax, Virginia.
Children: Thomas P Jr., Richard, Jane, Sarah (Sally). He died about 1795 in Fayette, Kentucky.
Thomas lived in Loudoun from 1748 to 1789 when he moved to Fayette, Kentucky with his son Richard and son-in-law Richard Masterson. In 1771 Thomas was a vestryman and church warden of Shelburne Parish, Loudoun, Virginia.
Capt. Thomas Shores served in the Revolutionary War. He commanded a company of Loudoun County Virginia militia and was appointed a county committeeman in 1775. The committee drafted resolutions of independence on 26 May 1775. He was sworn in as a Captain on 12 Mar 1781. Previous to the Revolution he served in the Fairfax Colonial Militia in 1756 (Crozier's Virginia County Records, Vol 2, p 59)

There are five Thomas Shores in DAR & four in SAR - I don't know which one was at Valley Forge (as indicated by one of the linked sources, for "DAR National Number 41662" - but the person with National Number 41662 is not linked to a Thomas Shores. The source list also links to a pension record, which is not for this Thomas.
There has been confusion between several men with the name Thomas Shores due to some incorrect lineages at DAR. Future lineages will need to prove the data.
