Johnny 'John' Dale Powers was born Oct. 16, 1955 in Middletown, Butler County, Ohio to Rodney Powers and Loma (Ingram) Powers. I am the eldest of five children who are all living. I am happily married for 48 years with five living children, thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
My interest in genealogy started about 1979 when I was out of college and had a chance to ponder things other than technology. I graduated from Michigan State University with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering in June 1979. Although I didn't have much time to pursue genealogy, becoming familiar with old census records added to my curiosity.
In the early 2000s I was introduced to a fellow engineer who shared my last name. We descended from different sons of Jeremiah Power(s). He helped me get started, although my efforts did not begin in earnest until I retired in 2018. After joining Wikitree in 2019 I have made great progress in filling out my family tree, but still have much more to add.
I look forward to interacting with others having similar genealogical interest. I am particularly interested in verifying the parents of Jeremiah Power. Those presently listed at Wikitree are likely incorrect I started participating in Wikitree Connect-a-Thons in 2022 and joined the Appalachia Project. I highly encourage participation in these WT activities as they help enhance your 'how-to' knowledge and help to build new friendships. I have found so many team members are really distant cousins! Amazing that we are helping each other build our ONE common family tree!
My work on Wikitree is very important to me. In the event that I pass away, I give Wikitree the right to transfer my private profiles to any active member that wants them, any related people being given precedence in the assignment of profiles. I also grant Wikitree the right to make my personal profile public upon my demise, as well as any of the private profiles I manage that may have passed on without my knowledge.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.
I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.
Take care,
Laura ~ WikiTree Greeter
I noticed that you changed the Last Name at Birth today from Alexa to Crawford on a profile that you manage with a notation that Alexa was the correct birth name but Crawford was the current last name and one he used through life and passed on to his children.
At WikiTree we always use the correct last name at birth when known, no matter what surname the person may have used during their lifetime.
The LNAB should be Alexa as it was originally on the profile with Crawford in the Current Last Name field.
