Biography

Robert Burton Palmer was born on November 4, 1938, in York, New Brunswick, Canada, his father, Joseph, was 28 and his mother, Eunice, was 23. He married Thelma Fay Collins on March 2, 1963.[1] They had four children during their marriage. He died on November 22, 2003, in St John, New Brunswick, Canada, at the age of 65, and was buried in McGivney, New Brunswick, Canada.[2]

PALMER, ROBERT BURTON (BOB) The death of Robert Burton (Bob) Palmer of McGivney, husband of Thelma F. (Collins) Palmer, occurred on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Bloomfield Ridge, York County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Eunice (Carson) Palmer. Bob worked as a guide, mostly for Burnt Hill Fishing Lodge. He was a member of the Miramichi Salmon Association, and as an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bob was a jack-of-alltrades, who was always working on something, and had recently found out the joys of vacationing at Cap Pele and Prince Edward Island. Bob also put in a huge vegetable garden each year. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Roxie Palmer (Sidney MacKay) of Nashwaak Bridge, Vicky Palmer of Fredericton, Bob Palmer (Stephanie) of Fredericton, and Nancy Palmer of Astle; grandchildren Jodi MacKay (André Doiron), Brandon Palmer, Kaitlyn MacKay, James (JR) Cummings, Jeremy MacKay, Cody MacKay, and Joel Palmer; a great grandson, Sebastien Doiron; a brother, Murray Palmer (Tina) of Williamsburg; sisters Jean Palmer (Norman) of Fredericton and Betty Palmer (Edison) of Stanley; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy MacMillan.
