MOULTON, (James) Abraham Matthews, b. c.1800 (Eng), d. 1846 at sea, [1] arr. 26.11.1833 per Eagle from Mauritius with brother Paul, asked permission to settle in WA as a merchant, m. 25.4.1838 (Guildford) Mary JONES b. 1814 d. 15. 4.1863 (Guildford), dtr. of Walter & Tabitba. Chd. Abraham Walter b. 1839, Stephen b. 1842, James b. 1844 d. 1899, Maria Agnes b. 1845 d. 1890. Occupied Avon Loc A & owned a Canning grant which he advt. for sale 1841. Owned "Rose Cottage" & opened a store at Guildford. Made his will 30.1.1846 when planning to leave for Far East with a trial cargo of sandal wood in a chartered vessel Paul Jones. He & the Captain were murdered by Lascar crew. Henry Gray & Thomas Parr were survivors (Inq. 13. 6.1847 & 6.10.1847). His widow sold the business & warehouse to S.A. Barker c . 1850.
