Johann Christian Knuschke was born on 14 September 1805 at Heidau, Silesia, Prussia.
He married Maria Rosina Klente before migrating to South Australia on the Heerjeebhoy Rustomjee Patel in 1845. She is noted in the ship's records as his second wife. He is on the manifest as a weaver from Silesia.[1]
The family is recorded as "Old Lutherans" in the German emigration records.[2] He was naturalised as number 124 of 310 Natives of Germany in Ordnance 1847 No 4 by the Governor of South Australia, dated 25 March 1847. He was identified as a weaver from Langmeil.[3]
He died on 21 March 1851 at Langmeil in South Australia and is buried at the Langmeil church cemetery, although no record of graves has been kept.
