Proud of my German roots! |
Hello, everybody. Spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ is my passion, and genealogy is my primary hobby.
I began working on my family's history in the early 1990's. Back then, all of my research was done at the library from books, microfilm, and mail. And, it was all on paper. I didn't even own a computer! In some ways, I kinda miss those early days.
Anyway, I eventually bought a computer, then at some point in the late 90's I stumbled onto Ancestry.com. Wow!!! so much stuff there!!! Through their message boards I discovered several second & third cousins, and that helped immensely.
In 2004, I married a woman from Monroe County, Illinois, a small, rural farming village just across the Mississippi River from my home in St. Louis Missouri. The more I got to know her extended family and the people from that area, I quickly became fascinated with the seemingly infinite number of family connections, by blood and/or marriage, between virtually everyone in and near that area. I began compiling a genealogy of that area, and now have several thousand records of all sorts. Mostly obituaries, my favorite source material, but also scads of other stuff as well.
I'm most thankful that my wife shares my passion with me, and also tolerates my obsession with genealogy. Not all wives could, or would.
Besides the gospel, my wife, and genealogy, all of which I love, I also enjoy reading and the outdoors. Hiking, camping, fishing. Who can beat those things???

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in with project members. Please review the following and respond to let us know that you are content with your current team or if you would like to be more involved.
The Project operates in a team structure. There are currently three participant PIP Teams -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.
There are currently three different Biography Teams - The Biography Team, the Abandoned Team, and the Popular Team. You're currently identified as a member of the Abandoned Team. The Abandoned Team works on profiles from Closed Accounts and profiles included in the Project's maintenance categories.
At our last check-in, you were also identified as a member of the Unknowns Team. You are no longer listed on that page. Are you happy with the Team you are on? If you are interested in working with a different Tream, please let us know.
If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (You will need your Wiki ID for both). Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.

Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.
If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.
Looking forward to working with you,
Robin

I have modified Bolin's profile as well as his wifes. I also added children that were listed on the 1850 census according to your direction. Each profile has the link for the transcription and the transcription is linked to each profile.
Don't know if you know it, but it is possible that each of the family, except Prudence, Sarah, and possible Levina (depending on when she was born) were citizens of the Republic of Texas if they were her before 29 Dec 1845 when the Republic became a state.
Great bio, by the way!

I noticed that you used the Challenge Tracker to track a change during a recent Saturday Sourcing Sprint. Please consider officially joining us for the Saturday Sourcing Sprints. You can find information, including how to join, on the Sprints Help page.
No pressure, every profile with a source makes our WikiTree better. Your work will continue to be included in the Tracking Sheet's Unregistered total at the bottom of the help page if you do not register.
Your work is appreciated. Thanks for sourcing!
Alex - Sourcerer Sprint Co-facilitator
PS If the link does not work, you can find a working one in the public comment I left on your profile
please don't touch the suffixes for the Arndt family. The are essential for finding the person in the Arndt tree.
