Biography

Edward Hoyle was the son of Samuel Hoyle, Gent., of Barkisland, Yorkshire, and Anne Towneley.^[1][2] He was baptized 1 August 1641^[1][2] at Elland, Yorkshire.^[3]

Edward Hoyle immigrated to Virginia^[1] by 26 March 1666, when he appears on a headright list of Robert Taliaferro and Lawrence Smith.^[2]

In 1678 he contributed toward the communion table cloth for the Petsworth parish church.^[2]

Edward married Ann Debnam,^[1] stepdaughter of Charles Grymes.^[2] The date and place of their marriage is unknown. They had at least one child:

• Samuel, married Eliabeth Elliott in 1705; Samuel died by 1734 when his estate was adminisered by his son Edward^[2]

Edward's date and place of death are unknown.
