Sadie was born in Oskaloosa, Jefferson County, Kansas, July 17, 1892, the daughter of Frank Hoskinson and Ellen Williamson. She had three sisters, Frances "Babe" (1880-1964), Nora (1882-1960), and Kate (1896-1981); and three brothers, Herbert (1876-1895), John (1884-1959), and Emmet (1887-1952).[1][2][3][4] In 1920, Sadie was a telephone operator.[5]
Sadie married Don Dewey Dec. 25, 1921, in Oskaloosa, Jefferson County, Kansas.[6] In 1925, they were living in Ozawkie, Kansas.[7] The couple lived in Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas, in 1926, where Don worked for a packing company.[8] With her husband and her brother John Hoskinson, Sadie operated a grocery store in Oskaloosa, Jefferson County, Kansas. In 1930, Sadie and Don were living with Sadie's mother, Ellen, in Oskaloosa, Kansas. Both were listed in the 1930 U.S. census as meat cutters in a butcher shop.[9] The 1940 U.S. census listed Sadie alone as head of household, storekeeper, retail grocery.[10]
Sadie died in 1975 in Oskaloosa, Jefferson County, Kansas.[11] She is buried in Ozawkie Cemetery, Jefferson County, Kansas.[12]
