Nora was born in Oskaloosa, Jefferson County, Kansas, Aug. 29, 1882, the daughter of Frank Hoskinson and Ellen Williamson. She had three sisters, Frances "Babe" (1880-1964), Sadie (1892-1975), and Kate (1896-1981); and three brothers, Herbert (1876-1895), John (1884-1959), and Emmet (1887-1952). [1][2]
Nora married Robert Burgess in Webster, Iowa, March 12, 1904.[3] They had eight children: Harold, Oswald, Marvin, Alva, Ellen, Ethel, Robert Jr., and Jack. The family farmed in Iowa and Minnesota. In 1910, they lived in Williams Township, Hamilton County, Iowa.[4] In 1920, they lived in Morgan Township, Franklin County, Iowa.[5] In 1925, they lived in Ramsey, Kossuth County, Iowa.[6] In 1930 and 1940, they lived in Cashel Township, Swift County, Minnesota.[7][8]
Nora died Oct. 7, 1960, in Swift County, Minnesota. She is buried in Benson Cemetery, Benson, Swift, Minnesota.[9]
