Here is my family tree.
I have been researching my family tree for over 10 years. Still learning how to do research outside of just America 1850-1950 :). In the past, I added a GEDCOM and the sources didn't flow over... so I am adding sources as I go.
Like most people, I split my research up by grand-parents:
2. Paternal Grandmother: Joan Mattingly Surnames: Mattingly, O'Bryan, Beaven, Ballard, Buckman, Luckett, Lancaster, Cissell, Hayden, Dunbar, Green, Page, Hammett // Stewart, Peck, Breen, Smith, Donnelly, Farrel, Dauphin, Reaume, Drake Where at?: California, USA; Michigan, USA; Kentucky, USA (Marion County mostly); Maryland, USA; Colony of Maryland; Ontario, Canada; Ireland
The famous Kentucky Mattinglys! Joan's paternal line is such a well documented line. Very Catholic, and very big families. Not surprised Joan was an only child (one they really wanted to be a nun.... like SEVEN of her aunts. Check out the daughters of Thomas William Mattingly Sr)
Surnames: Gooding, Goodin, Hulen, Adkins, Feeback, Hammer, Adkins, Ham, Hicks, Rush, Cherry, Newby, Bruton, Garretson, Harwood, Lane, Winn, Lemen, Hopkins, Rowe, Hasket, Broyles Where at?: California, USA; Missouri, USA (Boone County mostly); Arkansas, USA (Boone County mostly again); Tennessee, USA; Oklahoma, USA; Kentucky, USA; Virginia, USA; Illinois, USA; North Carolina, USA; South Carolina, USA; Colony of Virginia, Germany.
I literally have yet to trace most of this family back to outside of the USA. Also, of course, this is the piece of the family with the "American Indian" legend - someone's great-great-grandfather was a Cherokee Indian! But no - Oklahoma was Indian territory when they lived on it.
Surnames Paternal: Moore, Babb, Baswell, Shoemaker, Williams, Mayson Surnames Maternal: Matten, Vanthuyne, Van Laere, Degryse, Rosselle, Geldhof Where at? Paternal: California, USA; South Carolina, USA (lots of Spartanburg and Greenville County/Greer, SC); Colony of Virginia; North Carolina, USA Where at? Maternal: California, USA; Alabama, USA; Belgium (mostly West-Flanders)
I only split this up because my grandmother is living, but really, it would make perfect sense to ACTUALLY split this up. Her paternal line is South Carolina forever and ever, and her maternal line hopped over from Belgium in April 1910. That is the most recent of any of my ancestors to get over here to America.
My maternal grandmother is the only grandparent I've really known. All were alive for a decent time of my life, living not-too-far, but for one reason or another, I never had relationships with them. As such, I think I'm include to care the most about this line. Since I can't read Flemish, that means I dive into the "Moore" line. Only... I may have learned that Hubert's father passed away in 1900. And Hubert was born... 1914. So perhaps that is not part of the Moore story. Hit me up if your family was in Greer, South Carolina in 1913. Based on the trees of my DNA matches on ancestry, my theory right now is that his bio father was one of the Thornton men living in Greer. But as far as the Moore name goes, Hubert's mother's grandmother was a Moore in South Carolina, so we still got it.
Maternal relationship is confirmed by an autosomal AncestryDNA test match between Ezra Horak and Tina Gooding, her mother (direct ancestor). Predicted relationship from AncestryDNA: Mother, based on sharing 3488 cM across 22 segments.
Paternal relationship is confirmed by an autosomal AncestryDNA test match between Ezra Horak and CHol, her 1st cousin 1x removed. Their most-recent common ancestors are John Horak and Ellen Conway, the great grandparents of Ezra Horak and grandparents of CHol. Predicted relationship from AncestryDNA: 1st cousin 1x removed, based on sharing 529 cM across 27 segments.

We appreciate your consistent work in improving WikiTree through the Sourcerers Project in 2022!
J Horak was awarded the Golden Achievement Milestone for at least one sourced profile tracked every month since you received the Sourcerers Badge in the 2022 Sourcerers Project Sourcerers' Challenge.
Hi Jamie, I am playing with a new tool in DNA painter and it suggest we might be related 5C3R † 8C † 6C 6C1R 5C 6C2R 4C1R 5C1R 7C Half 3C2R 4C2R 5C2R 7C1R 3C3R 4C3R due toDNA you share with both my brother and myself. I think this might be on the Gardiner line. See Wallace-2166 Wallace-17695 . So far we are only showing ninth cousins on my maternal side through another ancestor. Although the last name spelling is different lots of Johns Thomases and Josephs.
Super interesting! I wish I understood the DNA tools better. Do you use the gedmatch kit number? I can provide you with my grandmas, and we can see if youre connected to her side. Her father's side has a long history of SC/NC, but it's been really messy to piece together.
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.
Thank you for joining us! I wanted to check in with you to see how things are going. How do you like WikiTree so far? Have the tips in the New Member How To Pages been helpful or have they left you with questions?

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
Thank you for adding a GEDCOM. The GEDCOM does not automatically populate your tree. It generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through, either accepting or rejecting all suggested matches. Once that has been done, you should see [add] buttons for each of the remaining names.
The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.
For those using Chrome or Opera browsers, there is a tool that can help with the formatting of profiles which have been created through GEDCOM, so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
