Emily,[her name was variously spelled as Emily, Amelia,and Amili] was born in 1825, in Draycott, Derbyshire, the daughter of John Hooley and Mary Statham.
In the 1841 Census at Ockbrook, and aged 15, Amelia Hooley was working as a Lace Runner, and three years later,and still in Ockbrook, she married David West, son of a William. They emigrated to the USA and Salt Lake City, followed by one of Emily's younger [step]-brothers, Thomas [q.v.] She died in Pleasant Grove, Utah, in 1900. Roger and Allene West commissioned the painting of St Chad's church , Wilne, " as tribute to Emily Amelia Hooley West who, with 6 other pioneer women came to America in the 1840, 1850s and through 1869"
