Ian 'Pete' Geoghegan was an Australian race car driver, known for a quick wit and natural driving skills. Together with older brother, Leo, he was one of the iconic characters of the 1960s and 1970s Australian motor racing scene. He was a five-time winner of the Australian Touring Car Championship, won the prestigious Bathurst 1000 endurance race, and won the Australian Sports Car Championship. He was inducted into the V8 Supercars Hall of Fame in 1999.
Ian Anthony 'Pete' Geoghegan was born on 26th April 1940 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He was the younger son of Tom Geoghegan, a car dealer, and Edna Low.
Pete married Nanette Frances Bamford in 1964 in Sydney. [1]
He passed away, aged 63 years, on 15th November 2003 in Sydney.
