Biography

Colin Charles Samuel Davis was born on 11 February 1924 in Mount Barker, South Australia, the son of Albert Ebeneezer and Amy Davis[1] who lived at Macclesfield.

Colin became engaged to Joyce Passfield in 1948,[2] and married her in 1951.[3]

Wedding at Macclesfield
PASSFIELD — DAVIS
A very large crowd attended this very pretty wedding, which was solemnized at the Macclesfield Methodist Church when Joyce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Passfield, was married to Colin second son of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Davis, all of Macclesfield. The ceremony took place at 7.15 . p.m., on June 6th, and was performed by the Rev. F. Willms, of Mount Barker. The floral decorations massed chrysanthemums and other autumn flowers, were beautifully arranged in the church by Mesdames LePoidevin and G. Boothby. Mrs. A. Keast played the organ.
The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a white slipper satin frock with French lace yoke and sleeves with point over the hand, and small fissue finished with orange blossom. A long train, edged with pleated tulle. Pointed bodice and buttons down the back. The 'something borrowed' was a beautifully embroidered tulle veil lent by Mrs. G. Barnett, of Crystal Brook, which was worn with an orange-blossom headdress. She carried a white sheaf of roses and chrysanthemums. The bride groom's gift to the bride was a three-strand pearl and marcasite necklet.
The bride's attendants were Misses Rosemary Westley and Judith Yates, and little Glenys Abbot, was flower girl. They were frocked alike in moire taffeta, their colors being ice blue, mauve and lemon. The frocks were made with circular skirts, edged with frill on bottom and also around neck, and velvet ribbon around the waist. They wore latticed headdresses with colored flowers. The bridesmaids carried posies made of roses with tulle and ribbon to match their frocks, and the flower girl carried a basket of mixed flowers. The bridegroom's gifts to the girls were two-strand pearl necklets and to the flower girl a gold bangle.
The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Bert, as best man, and Bob Walters as groomsman.
While the register was being signed a very pleasing solo, "Because," was rendered by Mr. Jack Nicholson, of Mt. Barker.
The reception was held in the Macclesfield Institute, where the bridal party received approximately 300 guests. The bride's mother wore a junior navy jacket frock and accessories to match, with a rose and fern shoulder spray. The bridegroom's mother wore black with matching accessories and a shoulder spray of roses. The floral decorations in the hall were tastefully arranged by Mrs. O'Loughlin. The Rev. Willms officiated as master of ceremonies, and proposed the toast to the "King," and Mr. C. Edmonds, the "Bride and Bridegroom." Mrs. W. Anderson, of N.S.W., very ably supplied the music both for the reception and the dance that followed. Mrs. W. Calaby sang a humorous solo. After singing "Old Acquaintance," the happy couple left by car for Renmark and Mildura. The bride's travelling outfit was a beige costume with black hat and accessories. Their future home will be Bugle Road, Macclesfield. [4]

They farmed Ayrshire cattle on a farm on Bugle Ranges Road at Macclesfield for many years. They had three children.

Colin died at Strathalbyn on 26 April 1995 and was cremated with the ashes inurned at Macclesfield cemetery.[5][6]
