George Hughes (abt.1824-) had a brother Alfred Hughes (abt.1832-bef.1889) living in Shelby County and married to Sarah Hatcher Hughes.

Sarah Hatcher either divorced, or her husband died before 1889. It is not known if she brought her children in to her marriage to James Crowdus.

• Her third marriage was to James Crowdus, and she is buried near him in the Wilsonville AME cemetery as Jane Stepp Crowdus.

Arch Oliverson is his brother, but it is unknown who is mother was. HIs wife Jane Stepp Crowdus, was mentioned on a memorial in Wilsonville Chapel AME Church Cemetery, Wilsonville, Boyle County, Kentucky, United States with a death date of 29 March 1926.^[13] Their sons, John Crowdus 1883-1924; and Albert Crowdus 1888-1954, are also buried nearby.
