Communication Preferences: I am interested in communicating private message with anyone who shares the same ancestors. Here is my family tree.
I am interested in communicating with anyone who shares the same ancestors. From an inherited Tree of about 750 records (on WT) , I have extended it to circa 4,700 ancestors (partly elsewhere). I have learned to avoid fanciful links before ~1600 without good sources. My mainstream data appears reliable being supported by official sources. Other data could do with improvement, and a minority could still be a “house of cards”. From a UK starting point, I have identified new relatives and ancestors from Canada to New Zealand, and many countries in between. My revised priorities are (i) to consolidate and enhance mainstream records with more supporting documents - including pictures where possible, (ii) check and confirm (or delete) weak links and (iii) explore possible European links.

Hi Norman,

Thanks for your message. This is a Wiki so no harm done. These things happen. I probably need to review him anyway.

Hope you are enjoying WikiTree.

Hi Norman,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Debi

Hi Norman,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Janet ~ Wikitree Greeter

Hi Janet, thanks for your message. I'm happy to confirm that I went through the self-assessment questionnaire according to the instructions, and also took a copy of all the Correct answers as a convenient "reality check" in my PC's Genealogy folder. I have already had some sobering experience with pre-1700 data (via My Heritage) to the extent of deleting ~400 records in self-disgust - not involving wikitree I hasten to add. So harsh experience underpins my efforts to learn and apply the wikitree discipline. Best wishes! Norman

Hi Rosalie, thanks very much for your further welcome to the Community - this time as a Family member. Obviously, I have further reading and learning to do about WikiTree processes and disciplines. I usually spend a few hours each day working on my MyHeritage Tree and, at least initially, may limit any input to cross-referencing data, hopefully to improve individual profiles and sources. It's all quite exciting!
